Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), in collaboration with the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC), has concluded a two-day training on essential First Aid and Emergency Response.

The programme, held recently at Abayomi Finnih Park, Oregun, included comprehensive sessions on First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), aimed at bolstering the emergency response capabilities of participants.

In her opening remarks, the General Manager of LASPARK, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, expressed her gratitude for the training facilitated by the LSSC. She highlighted the critical importance of such initiatives in ensuring public safety and preparedness across the state’s parks and recreational areas.

The General Manager stated that the success of the initiative serves as a testament to the ongoing commitment of both LSSC and LASPARK to public safety and emergency preparedness in Lagos State.

According to her, the collaborative effort between LSSC and LASPARK reflects Lagos State’s dedication to building a safer and more prepared community.

On his part, the Director-General of LSSC, Mr. Lanre Mojola commended the dedication and commitment of first aid and emergency response professionals. He emphasised that their readiness to act in times of crisis is a cornerstone of a resilient and caring community.

“First aid and emergency response are vital components of our collective safety infrastructure. The ability to provide immediate and effective care during emergencies not only saves lives but also mitigates the impact of injuries and illnesses, ensuring a swift return to normalcy”, he stated.

Mojola, who was represented by the Deputy Director, (Head, Public Safety and Well-being), Ms. Kikelomo Ibraheem, further underscored the significance of preparedness in a world where emergencies can occur at any moment.

He acknowledged the indispensable role of training, knowledge, and skills in emergency response and praised the efforts of professionals who educate the public, conduct drills, and respond with efficiency and empathy.

“We are committed to supporting your endeavours through continuous education, resource provision, and policy development aimed at enhancing our emergency response capabilities.

Together, we can foster a culture of preparedness and resilience that ensures the safety and well-being of all citizens”, Mojola added.

The training session saw active participation from various stakeholders who engaged in practical exercises and drills designed to enhance their emergency response skills.

At the end of the training, participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights and hands-on experience gained over the two-day session.
